Payload Financial is a desktop application software to track investments on Robinhood built by a single creator (me).
How I started
My name is Ricky Tan, and I’m a freelance software engineer.
During the COVID pandemic, I realized that I didn’t want to be defined by my occupation. I wanted to build a future where I could be free to enjoy quality time with my family during the day and work in the evenings like the night-owl I am.
So instead, I became a freelance software engineer with the goal of reaching financial independence early.
I got curious about how others went about their investing and personal finance, so I interviewed 25 of my Facebook friends and wrote a blog about it. A lot of my friends were in the early stages of their careers like me, each with a unique method and reason for wanting to build up their wealth.
I was moved to help each and every one of them in my own special way.
What is Payload Financial?
Payload Financial is a simple desktop application that helps you review performance of your Robinhood investments by:
- Allowing you to split up your portfolio by grouping investments into easy-to-manage, user-defined batches (payloads)
- Visualizing your own trading habits with helpful charts and graphs
- Maximizing gains on market swings even when you’re busy with light and optional automation
Additionally, you can continue to buy and sell normally on Robinhood after setup —it’s just a few minutes to log in, define your batches, automate if you want to, and that’s it!
What makes this unique
Payload Financial is made and used personally by yours truly (with a little design help from other freelancers).
I am not a brokerage! I don’t collect data. I don’t have hidden fees. I don’t make money when you trade. I’m a single creator — my only objective is to provide a top-notch investing tool for you.
To do that, I’ll need your feedback! As such, I have a community on Discord where you can ask questions, partake in memes, and be involved.
